I Grew Up Around Vampires

True story: I was born and raised in the Olympic National Forest, a short distance from where the Twilight series was filmed.

The Pacific Northwest is a fascinating place to grow up. Marked by unprecedented natural beauty, non-stop rain, and plenty of eclectic weirdness, it is no wonder that the source of so many world changing catalysts originated here. Sound like an exaggeration? Hardly.

Try to imagine modern life without Starbucks (or Tully’s, Seattle’s Best, Dutch Bros., etc). Or travel the globe without boarding a Boeing airplane at some point. Maybe write a paper or resume without Microsoft Office? Unlikely. Ever watch a sporting event without seeing a Nike logo? Nope. And you’ve probably never been in a crowd without a few Pacific Northwest natives either. We’re quiet (reserving speech for essential sarcasm) but we’re there none the less.

The rainy state is a perfect place to be a nerd, an environmentalist, a freak, or mildly normal. It is a great place to be from. Just don’t go into the woods.
